Innovation is deeply woven into PaymentEvolution’s culture and mission. Today marks another important milestone in our commitment to responsible technological advancement: we are pleased to announce our participation as one of seven new signatories to Canada’s Voluntary Code of Conduct on the Responsible Development and Management of Advanced Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Systems.
Launched in 2023, this voluntary AI Code of Conduct demonstrates Canada’s global leadership in fostering safe, transparent, and accountable AI practices. Joining us today as new signatories are leading organizations such as CIBC, Intel Corporation, and others, bringing the total to 46 companies dedicated to responsible AI adoption. This collaborative effort is further supported by the Government of Canada’s refreshed Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence and the newly established Safe and Secure Artificial Intelligence Advisory Group, chaired by renowned AI scientist Yoshua Bengio.
The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, emphasized the importance of these steps, stating, “The measures announced today are a positive step forward in securing an AI ecosystem that works for—and in the interests of—all Canadians.” At PaymentEvolution, we wholeheartedly support this vision.
By signing the Voluntary Code of Conduct on the Responsible Development and Management of Advanced Generative AI Systems, we commit to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in all our AI-driven initiatives. These principles align closely with our core values and underscore our belief that AI should empower and uplift Canadian businesses and communities.
A prime example of our ongoing commitment to responsible AI is our innovative AI-powered Offboarding Assistant. This powerful tool streamlines the complexities of employee offboarding, ensuring processes are handled with care, dignity, and respect, reducing administrative burdens, and enhancing employee experience during crucial transition phases.
Additionally, our strategic partnership with Carleton University and its Department of Cognitive Science positions us uniquely at the intersection of academic excellence and practical AI implementation. Dr. Raj Singh, Head of Research at PaymentEvolution and Professor at Carleton University, describes this collaboration as crucial: “Our partnership enables us to incorporate the latest cognitive science research directly into our AI products. It ensures our AI solutions are not only effective but ethically sound and beneficial to Canadian workplaces and society as a whole.”
Our CEO, Sam Vassa, further elaborates on our commitment: “Participating in this responsible AI initiative is an expression of our dedication to advancing innovation with integrity. At PaymentEvolution, we prioritize building trust and delivering technology that not only meets business needs but also respects individual rights and privacy.”
Canada’s leadership in AI began with the world’s first national AI strategy in 2016, and it continues to evolve robustly. With the Government of Canada investing significantly—$2 billion in compute capacity, infrastructure, AI adoption programs, and workforce training—Canada is solidifying its global AI advantage. As a Canadian company dedicated to innovation, PaymentEvolution is proud to contribute actively to this ongoing journey, helping to establish common international standards and safeguards for generative AI.
As we step forward into this exciting future, we recognize our responsibility to lead by example. We are excited to collaborate with our fellow signatories, industry leaders, and academic partners to shape a safe, responsible, and beneficial AI ecosystem that serves all Canadians effectively and ethically.
At PaymentEvolution, innovation and responsibility go hand in hand. We invite you to follow our journey as we continue to make impactful strides in financial technology, always guided by our unwavering commitment to responsible innovation.
